I've been a passionate developer since I got my first computer when I was 16.
Without knowing what significance this machine would one day have, I was immediately fascinated when my best friend showed me his first Sinclair.
My first should then be a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. I wanted to understand how a computer works and dealt equally with hardware and software. For months I had been working on a hardware interface and associated software in assembler to control a plotter that I had also built myself.
The mechanics of the plotter had overtaxed my skills, but the interface and software were functional.
So it would have been only too obvious to study electrical engineering after my Abitur (major subjects: math and physics). Since life doesn't run according to rational criteria, I finally studied graphic design with a focus on illustration and typography and graduated in 1991 with a diploma.
In 1991, the computer was already conquering the graphics industry and my first employer dealt exclusively with desktop publishing. From then on, the computer was part of my daily work routine. I came to internet programming in 1997 via the intermediate step of multimedia programming with Macromedia's director.
Since 2009 I have been developing Content Management System based websites, preferably with Umbraco CMS.
