In 2009, I was working as a freelance web developer and saw content management systems as a way to develop sophisticated websites. As a developer, I knew I didn't want to deal with content maintenance.

Based on relevant projects, I already knew that developing a CMS myself was out of the question.

And for budgetary reasons, only open source was an option, even though this was completely new territory for me. Since I had worked exclusively with Microsoft technologies, the list wasn't long, and Umbraco was at the top. The very first validation awakened my love for Umbraco, which continues to this day. I recognized many principles and intuitively understood the basic concepts.

When I attended the annual "Codegarden" conference for the first time in 2010 – back then in Copenhagen – I realized that the philosophy behind open source – or rather, as Umbraco understands it – aligns much better with my innermost values ​​than anything I had experienced up to that point.

Today I can say that Umbraco has significantly broadened not only my technical but also my human horizons.
